Quizzical is back once again for some ill behaviour (ahem...) for its April installment at The Social.  The questions are ridiculous, sing offs incredible, the leader board is fast becoming a bun fight and we're quickly becoming a cult knees up so get yourself down and Quizzical.  April the official party for Holestar's new hit single ' NyLon Woman' (released digitally internationally 12/04/10). Downstairs BLAZE OF GLORY welcome a very special guest - one third of the mighty Chicken Lips, and Bearfunk Records head honcho - STEVIE KOTEY.  Mr Kotey has been releasing quality underground productions from his Bear Entertainment stable for a number of years now. Artists such as Prins Thomas, Brennan Green, Lexx & Todd Terje all plying their wares on one or another of his imprints.  Stevie has also compiled several highly acclaimed collections: from the Chicken Lips DJ Kicks on !K7 to the recent Disco Italia release on London's Strut Records. Stevie's DJ'ing style of Glitzy disco drum machines, electro funk and dubby sounds have taken him across Europe and beyond playing to appreciative cubs & we're delighted to welcome him down to our basement.... Blaze residents MATTY J & BEN TERRY (Tirk) are as ever on hand to provide support.

Downstairs AUTODISCO is Dicky Trisco & iamelectron and they head south once again for their monthly night at The Social – this month they are joined by RAY MANG (DFA). The boys will be serving up their unique fusion of disco, house, electrofunk, bespoke edits, nu synth stuff and plenty of Balearic gems. The Times recently wrote that “Autodisco is at the tip of the UK’s disco scene…” and placed their night alongside HMD, Disco Bloodbath and El Diablo’s as one of the countries main players. With their popular club night, their busy booking schedule and their ever expanding stable of record labels, the Autodisco DJs have world domination firmly in their sights.  They are now joined by ADRIAN COGGER as London resident.

Noise of Art throws an intimate party during its month of activity. Continuing current prog embracing themes, this time NOA is inviting spoken art, words and electronic music to rub shoulders. Faro Isles performer, BUDEM, will start the evening’s music with a rare opportunity to see a UK performance of his version of the Faro isles story telling traditions. Combining theatre, literature and folk music traditions, his performances are mesmerising and like nothing you’ve seen before. This is the second appearance at Noise of Art, but given the last time was at the Royal Festival Hall, this promises to be a far more intimate affair. Electronic audio visual outfit SCULPTURE make their Noise of Art debut with a new set that they’ll be touring around European festivals later this summer. And DJ Ben Osborne will be topping and tailing the night with a typically dancefloor shaking set. Doors 6pm-1am – free entry

Live: THE LOVES - On their long journeys between haunted castles and cowboy ghost towns Scooby, Shaggy and the rest of the gang liked to chill out in the comfort of the Mystery Machine and explore the boundaries of recreational drug-use and inter-species dating while listening to their favourite band, The Loves.  While we can’t promise any talking dogs this time around, a visit from The Loves always means some straight up, blissful rock n’ roll, perfect for meddling kids of all ages. 

LITTLE THINGS - In a parallel universe Stuart Murdoch got over himself and quit moaning about the state that he was in. He moved down south, met a nice girl and a couple of polite blokes and started a band called Little Things.   If you’re feeling sinister then these guys will cheer you up in no time. 

AMBER STATES - Oh Lord!  What has become of the children?  They’ve thrown away their synthesizers and bought guitars, they’ve started wearing chequered skirts and started hanging around Epping Forest during the day, they’ve become responsible, and considerate, and started penning folk and blues songs, and left irony back in the cloakroom of the Astoria Theatre.  Doors 7pm-12am, free entry

MAN LIKE ME AND FRIENDS

Ahead of Man Like Me's 'Lovestruck' EP release in May, the boys will be coming to takeover one of our Fridays. MLM plus very special guests including RackNRuin + Rinse FMs Marco Del Horno, will be spinning tunes all night. The band will be using the night to showcase artists they're into starting with a special debut Live PA from a very exciting upcoming singer - more on that nearer the time.
   
This is the first of many. The venue means a lot to the boys as it was the first venue they ever played live. Now look at them!
