Move, Noise of Art and The Social present a cross border line-up of up and coming Czech and London all female led acts – Giudi, Scarlet Woolfe and Maella – all making their debut appearance at The Social; London’s revered music commuinty hang-out.
Czech singer Giudi is an artist who blends music with fashion and art. Her Alt Pop combines uplifting, sometimes dark melancholic songs with a future live and electronic soundtrack; her distinctive vocals managing to be both haunting and melodic. She won the Silver Award for new artist at the 2018 Czech Music Awards. Now signed to the London based label Minimal Surface, Giudi has been recording a new album set for release in February 2020. Her last single, Tribe, a celebration of diversity and inclusiveness in society, made the playlist of radio stations in the US, Germany, Italy, Holland, France and the UK. The current single, Visions, features a video made in collaboration with Beijing based Taiwanese 3d multimedia artist Veeeky.
Singer/ songwriter Scarlet Woolfe blends ethereal alt pop with disco-punk, rock and trip hop influences. A self releasing artist. she has worked as a song writer since a young age with the likes of Jonas Blue and Emily Newman and scored chart successes in Europe. She is currently breaking out to launch her own new live band, of which this is an extremely early, if not first, gig.
Maella is a Prague born and London bred singer and prolific writer of her own material. Blending husky but silken vocals and rasping guitars with experimental production, and full live band, she is currently studying a post graduate in composition at Tile Yard, Kings Cross, overseen by Martyn Ware (founder of Human League and Heaven 17). Prior to her move to London in 2016 to study songwriting at the British Institute of Modern Music (BIMM), Maella released her debut Americana influenced EP ‘It Is Coming’ on a Prague based independent label. She has performed at an impressive array of venues including intimate favourites such as The Troubadour, scaling all the way to larger stages such as the O2 Shepherds Bush, Camden Assembly, The Islington, and 229 The Venue. She was the winner of best young singer award in the Czech Republic and her music successfully embraces both rock and electronic music.
