Glasswerk Presents: Thea & The Wild – CANCELLEDĀ
Thea Glenton Raknes is, first and foremost, a storyteller. She always has been, with a childhood spent between her British motherās āhippie flat in Osloā ā frequented by painters, poets and other budding boheĢmes ā and summers on her fatherās wooden boat crewed by Swedish prog rockers. Up until recently, she was perhaps even more comfortable professing āstorytellerā than āsongwriterā, having skipped formal music education and embracing a free- spirited, no-holds-barred approach to songwriting ā unaware of, and somewhat unconcerned with, the boundaries to both industry and artistry.

Her most recent album āIkarosā saw Thea emerge bolder and braver than before ā it was the second released under her Thea & the Wild moniker, some four years after Norwegian Grammy-nominated debut LP āStrangers and Loversā. Thea is currently in the process of recording her third album. Together with her live band, she will be presenting new material to her audience at The Social in London on March 25th.
Rolling Stone Magazine recommended Ikaros as one of ten best albums to stream; āOslo-based pop auteur Thea Glenton Raknes has a tremulous voice that adds a precipice-dwelling urgency to her off-kilter, catchy gems.ā Sonically speaking, Theaās inspirations include Emmilou Harris, Khruangbin, Patti Smith, Nick Cave, Roy Orbison, Fleetwood Mac, PJ Harvey and Bruce Springsteen.
NME: Ā»Having quietly released one of 2018ās most impressive debuts with āIkarosā, Thea & The Wild offer the kind of fist- clenching, abandon-free arena power-pop that Florence + The Machineās latest effort was lacking in. Imagine the open-road arena anthemics of Fleetwood Mac with the slick R&B edge of early Haim, and throw in the synthy showboating of Chvrches and youāve got a rough sense of what this dark horse has to offer.ā
